Principal's Message

Greetings Crenshaw Family,

I hope you are enjoying your summer break! It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as your new Principal. I am truly honored to become a member of the Crenshaw family which has already given me a warm welcome! I am looking forward to the opportunity to work diligently with our staff and parents to deliver the best possible educational experience for our scholars.

Professionally, I have twenty-four years of experience in the field of education. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History Education from an HBCU, Norfolk State University, Masters, Educational Leadership in Secondary Education from National University. My career has led me to become a Teacher, Dean, Magnet Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and most recently Principal the last five years at the Boys Academic Leadership Academy.

I am honored to lead this impressive school community. I will work hard to continue this school’s legacy of success by building strong relations with students, parents, and community partners. I am committed to ensuring that students will be equipped with the tools and skillsets deemed necessary to demonstrate academic excellence and is college and career ready upon graduation. I believe every student is a genius who needs a secure, caring, and inspirational environment to grow and mature. I will provide a climate that is physically, emotionally, and academically safe. One that encourages risk-taking and promotes the sharing of ideas. Together, we must cultivate a culture of collaboration and inclusion with a commitment to doing our very best to help our students achieve.

Our school site is under many mandates and improvement plans that center around raising the student achievement at Crenshaw HS. It is our duty to continue to grow and refine our professional practice through the vehicle of Professional Learning Communities, meeting the goals outlined in our WASC action plan, the LCAP goals, improved systems to analyze interim assessments benchmarks, increase parent engagement, gain capacity with the use of interactive technology-based student task and consistent implementation of instructional strategies and checks for understanding to engage students in critical thinking. It is our role to implement the action plan with fidelity to ensure we orchestrate opportunities for our community of learners. Junior Achievement’s 3DE program will be introduced to Crenshaw this year. This amazing program will re-engineer education to create engaging learning environments that reflect the world in which we live and empower our students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to unlock greater economic opportunity.

I look forward to meeting each and every one of our families and developing an ongoing committed partnership. Please know my door is always open. I can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at (323)290-7800.

With Cougar PRIDE,

Donald Moorer,

Principal
