Outcome
In order to maximize the use of the professional development time departments will work in grade/course level teams to focus on the delivery of standards-based instruction. Science standards will be used to model the process for all participants.

Example of Teams
Departments will divide into grade /course level teams
Each team will be facilitated by a department chair and team leaders.
For Example:
English- 9th grade,10th grade, 11th grade, 12th grade,
Social Science- World History, U.S. History, Gov’t/ Econ
Science- Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry
Math- Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II
Foreign Language- French, Spanish

Weekly Professional Development & Monthly Department Chairperson Meetings
Content/Skills
Use of quarterly assessment data (English /math) to inform instruction and re-teach as needed
Understanding of the CAHSEE and CST blueprints
Development of common end of course assessments and use of common assessment data to inform instruction for all courses
Use of CAHSEE and CST data to strengthen student learning
Development of pacing plans/curriculum maps to coordinate instruction
Review of student work using the ATLAS Protocol
