Course Description

EXAM

 

Final exams will be given at the completion of the quarter (10 weeks). The exam can be essay format /short answer/ multiple-choice. I will inform the class of what I choose. There will be no surprises. You will know what to study for and what kind of exam you’re taking. Review days will precede the exam. One hundred points are possible on exams. The grading scale is as follows:

A= 100%- 85%; B= 84%- 70%; C= 69%-60%; D= 59%-50%.

 

­****NOTE BOOK***

The Note book is very important. The bulk of your work will be done in your Note Book unless stated otherwise. You will receive a Final Note Book Check at the beginning of every grading window. 5, 10, 15, and 20 week. You are responsible for your Note Book! Do not lose it!

HOMEWORK AND CLASS ASSIGNMENTS

 

Homework and class work count for one fourth of a student’s grade. All homework and class work is graded on a 1 through 10 basis, with 10 being the highest score and 1 the lowest. Any assignment not completed will receive a grade of 1, unless they are made up within 3 school days.

 

CURRENT EVENTS

 

On certain weeks, the class will turn in current event reports from newspapers or magazines. Students may present their reports to the rest of the class, (reports must be related to the course- no sports, show business, etc.). The report must come from a newspaper or a magazine not more than one week old and at least one full page in length. The summary must be in the student’s own words! Summaries copied from a student’s source will receive an “F”. Each current event report is worth one quiz grade. Late current events will not be accepted. Students who volunteer to read their current event to the class will receive a one grade reward.
